SEW IN EXTENSIONS PROCESS

SEW IN EXTENSIONS PROCESS

Sew-in extensions, also known as weave extensions, are a popular method of adding length, volume, and versatility to one's natural hair. These extensions involve attaching wefts of hair to the natural hair by sewing them into braided tracks or a cornrow base. Here's an overview of the sew-in extension process:

  1. Consultation: Before getting sew-in extensions, it's important to consult with us to determine the type, length, and texture of hair extensions that will best match your natural hair and desired look.

  2. Preparation: Your natural hair should be clean, free from excess oil, and properly conditioned before starting the process. This makes it easier to braid and sew the extensions.

  3. Braiding: we  will create a series of small, tight cornrows or braids close to your scalp. These braids serve as the foundation for attaching the extensions.

  4. Weft Preparation: Hair wefts, which are long strips of hair, are usually attached to the cornrows using a needle and thread. The wefts are made from human hair.

  5. Sewing: We will sew the wefts onto the braids. Typically, they start at the nape of the neck and work their way up, ensuring that the wefts are securely attached. This process can be time-consuming 2 to 3 hours , but it's essential for the longevity of the extensions.

  6. Blending: After the extensions are sewn in, we will blend your natural hair with the extensions to create a seamless and natural look. This may involve trimming and styling the extensions to match your desired length and texture.

  7. Styling: Once the extensions are in place and blended, you can style your hair as desired. You can curl, straighten, or braid your hair, just like you would with your natural hair.

Sew-in extensions offer several benefits, such as the ability to change your hairstyle without committing to a permanent change, and they can protect your natural hair from daily wear and tear. However, they also require regular maintenance, including tightening the weave and proper care to ensure the extensions look good and last longer.

It's essential to have sew-in extensions installed and maintained by a professional stylist, as improper installation or neglect can damage your natural hair and scalp. Additionally, it's vital to follow a proper hair care routine to keep both your natural hair and the extensions healthy.
