Washing your Clip in Extensions

Washing your Clip in Extensions

Washing your clip-in hair extensions is an important part of maintaining their quality and ensuring they look their best. Here are the steps to wash clip-in hair extensions:

  1. Detangle: Before washing, gently comb through the extensions to remove any tangles or knots. Use a wide-toothed comb or a soft-bristle brush.

  2. Prepare a basin or sink: Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water. Avoid using extremely hot water, as it can damage the extensions.

  3. Swank extension Shampoo: Add a small amount of shampoo to the water and mix it until it forms a soapy solution. Make sure the shampoo you are using is suitable for extensions or for your hair type. Avoid harsh products that can strip the extensions of their natural oils. We recommend swank extensions shampoo.

  4. Soak: Submerge the extensions in the soapy water, making sure not to tangle them further. Gently swish them around to ensure the shampoo penetrates the hair.

  5. Rinse: Empty the soapy water and refill the basin with clean lukewarm water. Rinse the extensions thoroughly, allowing the water to flow in the direction of the hair strands. Make sure all the shampoo is removed.

  6. Swank Conditioner: Apply a small amount of conditioner specifically designed for hair extensions. Avoid applying conditioner to the root areas or clips, as it can make the clips slippery. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes, then rinse it out with cool water.

  7. Pat dry: Gently squeeze out excess water from the extensions. Avoid wringing or twisting the hair, as this can cause damage. You can use a clean towel to help absorb excess moisture.

  8. Air dry: Lay the extensions flat on a clean towel or hang them on a clip-in extension hanger. Allow them to air dry naturally. Only Use swank Argan oil for smooth texture .only if you can avoid using heat styling tools or blow dryers on the extensions, as excessive heat can damage them.

  9. Comb and style: Once the extensions are completely dry, gently comb through them again to remove any tangles. You can style them as desired with heat tools

  10. Store properly: When not in use, store your clip-in hair extensions in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. You can keep them in a protective case or swank silk bag to prevent tangling and damage.

The frequency of washing your clip-in hair extensions will depend on how often you wear them and the products you use. Generally, if you use them regularly, washing every 10-20 wears or when they become visibly dirty is a good rule of thumb. Proper care will help extend the lifespan of your clip-in extensions.
